I have been fascinated by eBay for a long time, by the concept that quite ordinary individuals can enact trades with complete strangers to their mutual benefit. It seems to me that a good deal of trust is involved in such transactions and that there's a lot of scope for things to go wrong. However, eBay has become a household name with a good reputation for honesty. So, a couple of weeks ago, I finally bit the bullet and signed up.

I recently got introduced to Ebay by my husband as he was hunting for Computer parts to upgrade our PC.

Basically ebay is an online auction sight that brings buyers and sellers together.

Now you may be like me and be somewhat sceptical about this method of buying goods, afterall you have to go on a desciption of the goods and if you are lucky a picture.

As I was flicking through the site I realised that this was a way for me to get back into coin collecting.

Ebay allows members to comment on the service that you get from any buyer or seller and I believe this is a good way to check who you are buying from.

The site itself is very comprehensive. There are a wide range of categories. Ebay would advocate that you should bid the highest amount that you are willing to pay, although I have sometimes felt that if a bidder is beaten in the last minute (or the last 10 seconds!!) the previous high bidder should be allowed to up the bid if they wish - afterall the internet can be a slow beast at times.

From my experience so far most people are reputable and have a fast and effiecient service.
